Where did my bathtub go??!

In a nutshell: cut plywood to fit just snug enough over the top of the tub, covered in 4" foam, them covered with fabric. Also some handmade pillows to match and a nice matching throw. It was a good solution for us because we never use the tub. There was no damage done and this can be removed and replaced as we like it. It has become a nice spot to sit and put our shoes on after getting ready, doing the girls hair, and sit and spy on the neighbors (kidding---Hi Jessi!! :))

  4. Fun idea! I love it. Someday, when my little ones are big enough to use the shower, this would come in very handy!

  5. Hi there, I caught this post off of Before n After's blog and have the same tub conundrum. My question to you is - you make it appear like your tub didn't have a "lip" that extended above the surround or a faucet that sticks up. How did you account for that, because I would love to do this too! Thanks!

  6. Hi There! I cut a half circle in the foam to account for the faucet. The board was able to slip right under and space under the faucet. I did not modify the fabric in that area, I just place the fabric over the entire board. (so there is an illusion of no cut in the foam, if you push down in that area, as the faucet does on it, then you can tell there is an empty space. I hope that makes sense, and when I put the board in and take it out I go in at an angle, placing the board under the faucit first and pushing down. i would love to see yours if you decide to do it. :)

  7. Found you through "Better After."

I love this bathtub idea. I have one that takes up 2/3 of my whole bathroom and we use it so seldom (almost never) it has dust in it.

I may have to borrow this idea and not give it back! ;0)

  8. Another shower lover. We made a point of not having tubs in our new place, and redid our previous bathroom to get rid of ours. If I had no choice, then this idea would have been right up my alley. Clever.

    Did you use weatherproof fabric?
